This is a visually striking cherry tomato that was created by crossing Bosque Blue and Strawberry Tiger. It became tomato famous as the cover on Baker Creek’s Whole Seed Catalogue for 2022 and that is where we first found it, but the seeds can be had from several heirloom/open pollinating seed companies. The Baker Creek catalogue describes the flavor profile as having notes of grape and plum…that seems accurate to me. I would add it has notes of honey and blueberries. It it can vary in color with striations of purple/pink/red/gold with a consistent dark purple shoulder. It is a small to medium sized cherry tomato growing in clusters. It is 60 days to fruit and indeterminate so once it begins to ripen we can expect production until frost. It is exceptionally sweet and high in pulp, with less acidity than you expect in a cherry tomato. We sold all the plants we started the first year we grew it in 2025 beyond the 2 we kept to grow. We had some seeds left from the package we purchased and we saved the seeds from this tomato. Because of requests and pre orders we started several dozen this year, 2026. I see us continuing to grow this in the years to come and especially as we move forward with a market garden and possibly a CSA. For this diary entry I sampled this with several other cocktail tomatoes complementing a hot dog with home made fresh dill pickles and a scoop of potato salad. This would be excellent in salads and added to salsa but I think it would really shine as sundried tomato and plan to do that this years as they begin to ripen in quantity.
